When I approach a stranger I look for someone I think is a little different, could be their hair, clothes, style etc, if someone is making an effort to be different, they would like to be noticed, I always compliment them on what attracted me to them make them feel I'm interested in them, explain to them why I would like to take a portrait of them and offer to send a copy them .
