CPAGB AWARDS (PHOTOGRAPHIC ALLIANCE OF GREAT BRITAIN)
The CREDIT award of the photographic alliance of Great Britain (CPAGB) is the entry-level distinction by the PAGB. The requirements are a set of 10 images. the criteria to pass is a High standard of club competition photography, scoring a minimum of 200 points over the 10 selected images thats 20 points per image. I am hoping to score over the minimum required.
I have applied to join the mentoring scheme and with my mentors experience and critique, fingers crossed I will have 10 good images to submit.
4th JANUARY 2021.
I received confirmation of being accepted into the mentoring scheme of the PAGB,(Photographic Alliance of Great Britain) to help me achieve the distinction of CPAGB.
My mentor is Mike Lawrence DPAGB AFIAP who holds the coveted Distinction Award of the PAGB and the Artist FIAP Award for acceptances in international photographic exhibitions. Mike is also in demand as a photographic lecturer and judge.
10th JANUARY 2021.
I submitted my 1st 20 images to Mike via dropbox, an email later confirmed our first zoom meeting and the comment that I should not have too much trouble getting my "C" with a few minor tweaks (that may lose the odd mark) that Mike will bring to my attention, but its not good enough just to "get through" to pass with a good mark it the goal. Images Tweaked (Yes it did make a difference) and submitted with a few new images next meeting scheduled for 22nd January 2021.Application form applied for and waiting for completion January 2021
22nd JANUARY 2021.
Second Zoom meeting, Tweaked images looking better, but more issues discussed in the critique  that I need to look at. I have 20 images that I need to select a final ten images from.
27th JANUARY 2021.
I received an Email from the PAGB Awards Secretary, confirming that my application had been accepted:-
PAGB Award for Photographic Merit – Credit Projected Digital Image
April 2021 Online Adjudication
Thank you for your Application Form for your entry into the Awards for Photographic Merit in the Credit PDI category.
Your entry has been registered for the April 2021 Online “Closed” Adjudication, with no audience, which has been brought forward for PDI entrants from the May 2021 Adjudication due to take place over the weekend of 15/16 May, hosted by the Midland Counties Photographic Federation.
The April 2021 Adjudication will be run Online by the PAGB Team On Monday 26th April.
Online Adjudication is not an ideal solutions judging images on remote monitors is simply not the same as viewing them projected onto an 8 foot screen. Our experience so far indicates that some faults will be more obvious on a monitor, but that images look better than they might if they were projected. Very few events are judged against a set standard and we have done everything we can to ensure maintenance of that standard and fairness in the scoring, wit ha review process similar to that undertaken at a normal Adjudication.
5th FEBRUARY 2021.
Third Zoom meeting and a couple of images have been eliminated from the 20, meeting cut short Zoom issues.
19th FEBRUARY 2021.
4th Zoom meeting, the closing date for my entry is the 5th April, I need to have my selection ready in the next couple of weeks, discussed the images  and which to work on, the main issue was some images need to tell a story not just have a textured background... re edit time ..
08th MARCH 2021.
5th Zoom meeting .. removed couple of the images from the selection and talked about the re editing of the backgrounds and a couple of minor edits I feel like I am getting better at seeing what's not quite right with images and certainly looking at my images with a more critical eye.
12th MARCH 2021.
6th Zoom meeting
Submitted edited images for discussion, fourteen in total need to take this selection down to ten
Here are the fourteen edited images. These images are just about final edits, I added extra Black borders on two to fit the maximum required dimensions 1600 x 1200 pixels, this is not needed the images must fit into to those dimensions  so this was the only changes needed.

The Adjudication date was Monday the 26th April 2021, On Wednesday 28th April I received an
e- mail  informing me that my application had been successful and my badge and Certificate will be sent shortly.
Below is a breakdown of my application;_
Private Property got me off to a good start with a score of 26 ( that's 6 points in hand)
Team Batman followed with a score of 22 ( now 8 points in hand)
Old Jokers are the best didn't let me down scoring 23 (11 points in hand now, looking good)
Bubble Harley a new image scored 22 ( 13 points in hand now)
The Look, one of my favourite images scores a respectful 21 ( now 14 points in hand)
Spider senses tingling  scored 20 ( was hoping for more as I think that image has good visual
impact but 20 keeps me on target)
Morticia, another new image scored a good 20 points
Beauty in the Eyes scored a disappointing 19, this image had always done well in BPE salons so I
was hoping for at least a 20 ( now 13 points in hand)
Kingfisher was put in my selection to add something other than people to my set, scored 22 ( now
15 points in hand, with a running total of 195 I need 5 points from my last image.!
Wolf again this was entered to show an alternative to people images, wolf scored 19 points giving
giving me a total of 214 points.

I have learned a lot from this process the main thing being more critical of my images,
to look and look again and then look at the image again!
And don't take any critique personally, it's just advice there to be acted on if you agree.
